Position Overview:
The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing compelling content to engage our audiences through different digital channels with the goal of increasing conversion and retention across several product portfolios at MIT Open Learning. This role is also responsible for assisting in new product launches, from developing the positioning of a product to working with other members of the team to manage and execute the B2C marketing strategy.
To be successful in this role, you have to analyze/understand our different audiences and products and then generate messaging and content deployed through the appropriate channels at the correct time in order to help potential learners make a purchasing decision.
Main responsibilities include writing and deploying email workflows through marketing automation tools such Mailchimp and Hubspot; organizing and managing live-webinars with faculty; developing and writing content to deploy on websites and social media; occasionally coordinating with freelancers on the creation of white papers, blog posts and other content assets; and curating content from different sources to feed our digital channels.
The Digital Marketing Specialist must be versed in digital marketing metrics/KPIs, and will track/report on the performance of the content deployed across channels in a way that leads to data-driven decisions to optimize performance and ideas of ways to test new activities.
The Open Learning portfolio of products includes MITx online courses, MicroMasters programs, Bootcamps, and MIT xPRO online programs for professionals. Our marketing team is results-driven, fast-paced, collaborative, and transparent.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):
- Writing, deploying, and monitoring email workflows through marketing automation tools such Mailchimp and Hubspot
- Organizing and managing live-webinars with faculty
- Developing and writing content to deploy on websites and social media
- Managing freelancers on the creation of white papers, blog posts and other marketing assets
- Curating content from different sources to feed our digital channels
- Contributing with ideas for content creation as well as other ideas to enhance our marketing campaigns
- Assist in generating reports to understand the performance of our campaigns

Qualifications & Skills:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 5 years of digital communications experience required
- Experience setting up and managing email marketing automated workflows, ideally through Hubspot or a similar CRM
- Experience developing compelling positioning and value proposition for products and then developing different messages across different channels (email, social media, blog, etc)
- Demonstrated success at driving results through digital communications
- Demonstrated experience with engagement analytics and reporting success based on data
- Strong communications skills and impeccable grammar are a must
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with marketing automation platforms (such as Hubspot, Marketo or Salesforce) a big plus
