SENIOR EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIST, Office of Digital Learning (ODL), to facilitate and support the use of the edX platform for the development and deployment of MITx course content (MOOCs). Will work across multiple disciplines and serve as the technical/platform expert for course development teams. Responsibilities include training MIT faculty, staff, and students (often nontechnical) to best utilize the edX platform to meet their pedagogical needs; working with MIT course teams, faculty, and edX partners to identify, report, and resolve any technical issues; staying abreast of changes between edX platform releases and communicating these changes to stakeholders as a feature expert; producing end-user documentation; managing cross-team and cross-department projects and initiatives; and piloting new MOOC features and development processes with minimal supervision and reporting out to stakeholders. Will work with a range of technologies as required for course development and must be prepared to learn new skills quickly as necessary.

REQUIRED: a four-year degree; a minimum of four years’ experience using web-based learning authoring/publication systems; very strong problem solving/debugging skills, working knowledge of standard web markup languages and best practices (HTML/XML/CSS); self-motivation; training experience; excellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with teammates, faculty, staff, vendors, and business partners; the flexibility necessary to adapt to a rapidly changing platform/environment; strong interest in online education; and the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with JavaScript and Python preferred. 

This is a temporary, one-year position renewable on an annual basis.
