Office of Open Learning (OL), to facilitate and support the use of the Open edX platform to foster innovation in teaching and learning at MIT. Will work across all disciplines and serve as the technical/platform expert for faculty, course development teams, and the OL residential education team.  Responsibilities include working closely with MIT faculty, OL engineering staff, and OL residential education staff to identify, report, and resolve technical issues within the Open edX platform; training MIT faculty, staff, and students to best use the Open edX platform to meet their on-campus pedagogical needs; staying abreast of changes between Open edX platform releases and communicating these changes to stakeholders as a feature expert; writing and editing end-user documentation; and participating in cross-team and cross-department projects and initiatives.  Will work with a range of technologies as required for course development. 

REQUIRED: a four-year degree, preferably in a STEM field; at least five years’ experience authoring in LMS systems (preferably in a higher education environment) or in support/technical QA roles; very strong problem solving/debugging skills; working knowledge of standard web markup languages and best practices (HTML/XML/CSS); willingness to learn new skills quickly; self-motivated; training experience; excellent communication and demonstrated customer service skills; ability to build strong working relationships with teammates, faculty, staff, and vendors; self-motivation; the flexibility necessary to work in a highly fluid organization and a rapidly changing technical environment. PREFERRED:  some experience with JavaScript and Python.  

May need to work minimal weekend hours as needed.
