Make Music New York: Twilight Chorus (for Humans)
Attend the world premiere of Twilight Chorus (for Humans), a new vocal work, inspired by MIT professor Shigeru Miyagawa’s theory that human speech evolved from birdsong, and composed by Pete M. Wyer. This chorus of 16 human voices, features slowed-down transcripts of birdsong field recordings.
There will be two 20-minute performances, at 7 p.m. and 7:35 p.m., with a short talk with Pete M. Wyer and Dr. Miyagawa in between. Audiences are encouraged to begin lining up at 6:30 p.m. at the 150 Eastern Parkway entrance to the Garden.
