Open University of Catalonia, Mobile Apps for Education
Hussein M. Elbaroudy is a mobile application developer from the Open University of Catalonia. Hussein has spent the past few weeks in ODL/SEI working to integrate one of UOC’s mobile applications, Apac, with ODL’s emerging assessment management service, QBank. On Tuesday, Hussein will demonstrate two of UOC’s mobile applications for education:
Apac: An activity and assignment management tool designed to increase student engagement in e-learning courses by providing continuous feedback, delivery reminders and mobile delivery options for course assignments. This app is being developed for both Android and iOS.
Guixa: A screen-casting tool providing the digital equivalent a class blackboard or projector, also designed to allow instructors to create "paper explanations" in digital format. Hussein will be demonstrating version 4 of Guixa, which is under development. Version 3 is currently available on the Apple App Store for iOS devices, but with fewer features. An Android version is also in the works.
