- Piloted full-credit online residential course
- Served 8,818 MIT students through 76 courses using the Residential MITx platform
- Scaled-up the development of video resources through the creation of a self-service video kiosk, called the "lightboard", for faculty and staff

- First cohort received their MicroMasters certificates in Supply Chain Management
- Hosted 6 MIT Bootcamps at MIT and around the world: Taiwan, Mexico, Turkey, and Australia
- MIT xPRO won the 2017 Excellence in Engineering Education Collaboration Award, granted by the American Society for Engineering Education for "Architecture and Systems Engineering," a 4-course series with Boeing and NASA

- The MIT Integrated Learning Initiative visited local schools, working with area experts to understand the impact of personalized learning on students
- The Teaching Systems Lab developed a series of simulations and games to help teachers address the negative effects of unconscious biases in the classroom
- Launched ClimateX, an MIT online learning community where people share knowledge and ideas about climate change

- Held the MIT Internet of Things Bootcamp in Cambridge, MA.
- Teaching Systems Lab (TSL) awards grants to MIT community to bring new ideas for STEM curriculum and teacher education to life.

- MITili's Transformational Research Talk Series: David Pritchard - Increasing the accountability to which we hold our educators.

- Hosted L@S: Fourth Annual ACM Conference on Learning at Scale, convening 180 leading educators.

- TSL tests the use of our mobile simulation platform, TeacherMoments, with Computer Science teachers addressing issues of unconscious bias.
- MIT faculty David Pritchard delivers xTalk on "Course Reform MIT Style: Student Evaluations vs. Scientific Evidence."

- MITili hosts Transformational Research Talk Series featuring Professor Laura Schultz and her idea of building a learning lab, an experimental space for early childhood educators to design, test, and share best practices.
- MIT xPro launches the Qualitative Methods in Systems Engineering course.

- Held MIT Turkcell Innovation & Leadership Bootcamp in Turkey.
- MIT pK-12 launches learning grants for STEM curriculum development and project materials.
- xTalks: U.S. Under Secretary of Education Launches Higher Education Technology Policy Brief.
- OCW publishes nine videos under the title "IIT Joint Entrance Exam Preparation," part of a larger series conceived by an MIT graduate student interested in helping less privileged students in India do well on the entrance exam for the Indian Institutes of Technology. The videos use light board technology (the first appearance of light board on OCW) to teach concepts taught on the exam.
- Competency exam certificate is available for MITx Introduction to Biology course.
