Position Overview:
MIT Workforce Learning, a corporate training group within MIT’s Office of Open Learning, is looking for a sales development representative to fill a lead generation role. The new hire will be responsible for generating leads, qualifying prospects and joining sales calls run by senior team members. They will manage their own outreach across a range of industries and sectors, using multiple systems and platforms, while also supporting scheduling for inbound leads and referrals. The position will report directly to the Sales Development Team Lead, with the ability to learn about all areas of the business development program and learn about all aspects of the sales process.
The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of lead generation experience, (BDR/SDR), with extra preference for those with experience in lead generation at the enterprise level or past experience in a closing role.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Use existing prospect lists to send cold email campaigns to specific roles within large organizations
- Coordinate sales calls for MIT Workforce Learning Account Executives (email-based)
- Qualify prospects to inform on the basics of Workforce Learning’s courses and training experiences and assess general fit (email- and Zoom-based)
- Explain MIT Workforce Learning’s offerings to prospects to confirm qualifications and answer questions prospects may have about different products
- Learn about all MIT Workforce Learning offerings, including continued self-education on the technology topics it covers
- Capture all activities in Salesforce with detailed notes and fit assessments, as well as sharing feedback from prospects with the broader team
- Create customized presentation materials for sales opportunities
- Execute day-to-day operational plans
- Join company and team meetings, in person and online
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in sales, marketing, or related field required
- Knowledge of basic sales principles, theories and concepts
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to initiate and develop professional relationships with senior business leaders
- Proven ability to work independently in an unstructured, innovating environment
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Selling or generating leads for educational products
- Generating leads from the Fortune 500 or government groups
- Working in and being successful at a startup (or startup-like environment)
- Fluency in other languages

This is a hybrid position. The Sales Development Representative is required to work in person, on campus, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, two days per week. The in-person requirement is determined by the Vice Provost, Open Learning and is subject to change based on the needs of Open Learning and MIT.
Salary range: $58,450 - $79,200. The final salary will be determined by MIT’s compensation team based on the skills and experience of the selected candidate.
