AI-powered tools for teaching at MIT
What AI-powered tools for teaching are available at MIT and how can they help you? AskTim in Canvas and Parley—a single interface to access generative AI models—are both tools you can leverage with your kerb.
Come and learn about AI tools and example uses in MIT classrooms:
- Meredith Davies will demo two tools developed by MIT Open Learning and currently available within Canvas: AskTIM Course AI for answering student questions using course-specific content, and Tutor AI for guided problem-solving support.
Meredith is Project Manager of Educational Systems & Services in MIT Open Learning Residential Education. - Paul Mende will share how he leveraged AskTim in his course, and discuss the challenges AI helps to address and the benefits for instructors and students.
Paul is a Senior Lecturer in the Finance Group at the MIT Sloan School of Management. - Adam Taylor will give an overview of tools licensed for use at MIT, with a focus on the new rollout of Parley. Parley enables access to AI models including Llama, Gemini, Claude (Opus, Sonnet and Haiku), DALL-E and OpenAI, from a single interface.
Adam is Manager of Release Engineering with MIT IS&T. - Zachary Cordero will present how he used Parley with students in an IAP course called the JARVIS Challenge—the Jet-engine AI Research & Validation Intensive Sprint.
Zachary is Esther and Harold E. Edgerton Associate Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
