Need ideas to gauge student learning in real-time? MIT faculty and instructors will share how polling helps them to adapt instruction on the fly. Learn how polling fosters active student engagement with both course materials and the instructional team.

  • Tyler Smith and Monika Avello will share how biology subjects are leveraging Poll Everywhere during in-class time and the benefits of their approach. Tyler is a Lecturer in Pedagogy Training and Biology, and Moni is a Lecturer in Biology.
  • Maria Khotimsky will discuss her use of live polling via Mentimeter and Google Forms and how it helps with both knowledge checking and community building. Maria is a Senior Lecturer in Russian in the Department of Global Languages.
  • Kirk Kolenbrander will describe a Google Form he calls The Solid—an ungraded way for him to connect with students and offer support throughout the term. Kirk is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

Attendees are welcome to participate in Q&A, and share their experience.
