The MIT Refugee Action Hub (ReACT) accelerates opportunity among learners affected by forced migration to become agents of positive change in their communities. Founded by MIT Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Admir Masic and driven by his own experience as a refugee, the program brings MIT’s strengths in online learning and innovation together with academics, entrepreneurship, skills training, and experiential learning. The program is entirely virtual this year, enabling an opportunity to expand our reach globally with 50 learners representing 22 countries, and emerging hubs of learners in Colombia, Jordan, Lebanon, Uganda, Ethiopia and the United States. MIT ReACT will share insights from its curricular and pedagogical approach to education to employment pathways, lessons learned in the shift to a virtual program, and ways J-WEL members can get involved in expanding opportunities to underserved learner communities globally.
