Fighting with Double-Edged Swords: AI as a force of good and evil in cybersecurity
Evermore accessible AI tools such as ChatGPT are transforming every segment of our digital lives, affecting the way we work, the way we interact with online services, and the way we get homework done faster. However, as with any groundbreaking innovation, questions about the risks of this new technology are also on the rise. This talk examines how the threat landscape changed when these conversational AI technologies were made available to the public, including Italy's decision to temporarily block ChatGPT over privacy concerns, Samsung's accidental sharing of company secrets through the improper use of AI, and hackers compiling malicious code with greater ease and speed. We'll also touch upon the ways cybersecurity is making use of AI “sidekicks” to make the work of security professionals more efficient and help all users improve their security posture.
