InfraredTags: Invisible 3D Printed Access to Augmented Reality

Imagine walking into a store and using augmented reality to identify, track, and learn more about the products that interest you. MIT Ph.D. candidate Mustafa Doga Dogan will join MIT Horizon to discuss how this futuristic concept can be achieved. He’ll show us how 3D printing and infrared imaging technologies have enabled the use of invisible bar codes on objects that give access to information via augmented reality. These bar codes, called InfraredTags, can be cheaply and easily printed on a variety of surfaces, changing the way we manage and store information on physical objects. After the talk, Doga will take questions from the audience.
