Deepfakes are an emerging technology that is often associated with malicious and manipulative actions, such as creating fake news items or counterfeit videos. However, researchers at the MIT Media Lab have been investigating positive uses of deepfakes. Two of these researchers, Pat Pataranutaporn and Valdemar Danry, will join us to discuss some of their projects, such as using deepfakes to assist in education and creating deepfake representations of our past selves. After the talk, Pat and Valdemar will take questions from the audience.
