Students in 6.390 are learning about the principles and algorithms of machine learning. To help teach how and why machine learning can break down, Shen Shen uses concrete examples, creates interactive lecture slides, and maintains an organized course website.

Shen Shen is a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and a recipient of the 2025 MIT Teaching with Digital Technology Award. Students have commended Shen for her engaging lectures and resources, all of which are available on an easy-to-navigate course website, but most of all for the enthusiasm she brings to the classroom.

Watch this 3-min. video of Shen and undergraduate lab assistant Grace Tian describing the tools and strategies that make 6.390 a challenging yet joyful experience.
