Addressing Youth Unemployment

Training the Arab Region’s Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

In early 2021, AGFE collaborated with MIT and UAEU to bring MIT Bootcamps to the UAE. Over a 10-week period, 120 participants were tasked with creating a venture that responds to a pressing issue in the region. The 22 teams tackled the challenges of youth unemployment and produced a variety of initiatives to help alleviate high unemployment rates among Arab youth.

Following the Bootcamp, AGFE surveyed the participants about their experience. Additionally, a focus group discussion was held to identify the challenges that the youth faced while participating in the Bootcamp and how they were able to overcome the challenges to produce their venture. This report summarizes the key takeaways from the first MIT Bootcamp in the region.
