The internet has revolutionized the way we learn. Open educational resources have played a key role in this shift — and MIT had a front-row seat by becoming the first higher education institution to provide educational resources for free to anyone in the world.

In celebration of Open Education Week March 3–7, we’re spotlighting six learners who have used MIT Open Learning’s educational resources to change lives, advance their careers, switch fields, or simply fuel their passion for learning. Their journeys span the globe and showcase the transformative power of open education.

June Odongo: A Kenyan entrepreneur creating career pathways with Open Learning resources

June Odongo, founder and CEO of Senga Technologies in Kenya, is using free, online MIT courses to train high-quality candidates, making them job-ready.
