Biography

Amanda Kuhl oversees and carries out the human resources function for MIT Open Learning. She partners with Open Learning leadership and business unit leads on areas that impact their ability to achieve business goals, such as recruitment, performance management, succession planning, employee relations, and professional development. Kuhl serves the broader Open Learning community by creating and carrying out programs and events that offer all employees the opportunity to grow and succeed at Open Learning and MIT and be recognized for their valuable contributions. As the HR professional embedded within Open Learning, Kuhl is a conduit of information, guidance, and policy interpretation between our department and MIT’s Central Human Resources Office and the Provost’s Office. 

Kuhl has more than 12 years of experience in the human resources field, a Masters in Business Administration from Suffolk University, and holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation from HRCI. Additionally, Kuhl is a trained facilitative mediator in accordance with M.G.L. ch.233 § 23C. As time allows, Kuhl volunteers as a Court Mediation Panel Mediator with MWI, a nationally recognized dispute resolution firm.
