Design Thinking is a protocol for imagining human-centered innovations and solutions for ambiguous challenges. Central to teaching and learning in several disciplines in higher education, Design Thinking can also be a powerful tool when working with young people who are poised to take on the world's most pressing problems. In this brief discussion, our invited panelists will explore the advantages of using the design thinking framework for a variety of learners. They will present a few ways of how Design Thinking is implemented in the Higher education and Pk-12 contexts, as well as some outcomes from times when limitless creativity met the Design Thinking steps.

Speakers:

Dr. Joshua Ramos, Lecturer, Mechanical Engineering Department, MIT

Angela Daniel, Ed.M., Education Researcher, Open Learning, MIT

About the Learning Approaches Webinar Series

Curious about some of the approaches and strategies experienced educators are using in their classrooms? Have you always wondered why these approaches are popular, and what can they add to the experience of the learners at your school, university, or organization?

Join us for a series of webinars introducing several evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning. Experts and educators will demystify each approach and present some of the evidence on its effectiveness. For each approach, you will be presented with examples of its implementation in different settings, and what best practices to follow if you decide to try these approaches yourself. The examples will draw from both higher education and pk-12 settings.
