Prof Terry McGlynn
March 25, 3-4 pm
MIT Community

As teachers, we all strive to be fair. This sounds like a straightforward goal, but getting close to this target is complicated by systemic inequities and when our students' expectations differ from our own. Prof Terry McGlynn will describe how we can develop a student-centered learning experience that will help increase student engagement and move past common barriers to student success.

Terry McGlynn is the Director of Undergraduate Research and Professor of Biology at Cal State Dominguez Hills, a Research Associate at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and the author of The Chicago Guide to Science Teaching. His research interests include the the ecology of ants in tropical, urban, and desert landscapes.

There will be Q&A after Prof McGlynn's talk. Faculty are invited to participate and share comments and reflections.
